Hey all, I just got back from my 3 day trip to the San Diego area and I'm sorry to say, there aren't many pics and only a few of these are of rocks. BIG ROCKS! I'll write a story of my trip in the general section a little later.
Our first night we went to the beach to play around, have dinner, and catch a sunset.
Yes, there are people out surfing at sunset.
Yesterday I drove half way across Calif and these are a few places I stopped. I took this from a vista point at an elevation of about 4600ft looking out across a desert valley. The road going through the valley is state hiway 78 which runs from San Diego to close to the Nevada border. There was a forest fire burning to the south of us and the sky was pretty smokey along with some high clouds from a tropical storm, so overall, it was pretty hazey and muggy.
This is a zoom shot of a farm house at the bottom of the previous picture.
This was a plaque in the parking area of the vista point. There was no other info, so I don't know the story behind the plaque or the people.
These next 2 are from Interstate 8 about midway through Calif just about the beginning of the desert looking south and into Mexico. The mountains in the distance are in Mexico.
I took this shot on my way back to San Diego while sitting at a signal, through the side window of the car so that's why there is a color variation. This hillside is typical of the whole area around the north and east end of the county. When I first saw these huge boulders, I thought for sure I'd be in rockhounding heaven, but alas, they are either granite or sandstone.
The people in this house better hope the boulder on top of the hill never lets loose!
Hope you enjoy the scenery from the area.
