Hi all, I got my latest winnings from bearcreek's ongoing auctions, and I have to say this is some really nice material, and well worth the price. All of the items Back row left to right: Luna Agate, dendritic Opal, and High Grade Petrified Algae Front row left to right:Ruby in Zoisite, Petrified Dino Bone(rear), Blue Lace Agate, and Colorado Lapis Lazuli So I expect I will be having some fun with this material in the next few days, so if you're interested check out the cab section.

Ed; I don't know why everyone is calling that material petrified algae but everything I've researched about it says it's orbicular rhyolite very similar to Birds-eye rhyolite and igneous in nature not a replacement of organic material. You can even see the rayed crystal formations in some of the orbs. I'd sure like someone to explain to me how this started getting called algae.....mel

I don't have an answer for you Mel, but that is what John called it in his auction, and if he calls it that, then by George, that's I'm gonna call it and I doubt very seriously he is wrong. Note:this is my opinion and I really don't want to start a big discussion/disagreement about it. Thanks.

That's some great looking material you got Ed. Do you have any idea where in Colorado they find Lapis? All I can find is shale and sandstone.
