I was asked to make a heart pendant and a fish pendant by one of the workers who installed our new windows. He is going to give the heart to his girlfriend and he wanted the fish for himself. I posted the heart a couple of weeks ago and now here is the fish. I have to drill a hole for a jump ring, but I'm undecided on how it should hang, vertical or horizontal. I wanted to use some wire and make a fish hook and hang it vertical but my wife said that would be tacky. So what do you guys think, horizontal or vertical?

I had the same thoughts about the fish I made and couldn't make up my mind. I'd ask the guy himself which way he prefers it. I think the wire fish hook idea is kind of cool though, sure would make sense then to have it hanging vertical.

Was that all on your grinder? It looks great!
I agree with Cher to ask the guy. My first instinct would be horizontal, though.

I would say it depends on how long the fish is and who is going to wear it, if a man is going to wear it you could go either way, if a woman is going to wear it I would say hang it vertically so the ends don't poke into the womans chest. Tami

Hmmm, that's a tough call. I say leave the decision up to the recipient if possible to avoid any liabilities.

Hey stoner, what kind of fish is it? I mean, sport or hobby... Looks a lot like a marbled molly, a little aquarium fish you wouldn't want on a hook- Except maybe as bait (j/k)

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I will hang it vertically and if he doesn't like it that way I can always drill another hole near the back and hang it horizontally. I shaped and polished this fish on my grinder. Since it is going to be a pendant, I domed the front like a cab. Steve, it's about 2" long. As for what kind of fish it is, it's a "Rockfish", of course!!!
