I had to go roaming through some of my pohotobucket directories this morning because I was looking for a picture of a local jeweler's pendant made with the local State College Oolite. I found the pic, but it was also a bit of a trip down memory lane. I saw some rocks I had not thought about in a while, pictures of the cat that died in early spring, and this picture of a small couple pound parcel of rock. I had intended it to be a nice parcel when I assembled it, but I was struck this morning that it really was a neat mixture of colors, patterns, and rock types. A little bit sad too. I had more or less given this parcel to another RTH member sometime last year. they did say thanks in a PM when I sent a pic before I mailed it off, but they never posted when they received it, or put a pic up on the board, or acknowledged the gift on the board as is customary. later this same person made ugly remarks to me. Gosh, I kinda wish I could back in time and stop myself form mailing that parcel. But truth to tell, if I only had one trip back in time there would be a lot more important moments to consider.

He has a habit of sending cool stuff to people. I've been on the receiving end a few times.

So, why do you give gifts?

it was a nice gift daniel. but don't think they didn't appreciate it because they didn't make a public post. i generally thank people privately here for gifts and don't post pics. for some reason i think it is proper etiquette so that the giver doesn't receive pressure to send more gifts or have someone say they didn't get one.
so i hope i haven't offended anyone by not posting about a gift. now if i forgot to pm you that's another story!

Always remember what you give in life comes back to you! Several members of this board have sent me wonderful and beautiful rock gifts since I have been unemployed and had eye surgeries. I haven't been able to afford to buy rocks for a long time now. I am so grateful to all of the giving members of this group who sent the beautiful rocks to me! That was so nice of all of you who sent them! I am very grateful to each of you who have done this.

I agree with Kim... Jonje and I prefer to thank people in a pm so as not to offend people who didnt get a gift. If we pay for product we boast about the awesome deals and show pics so that the person will get more sales. Just my opinion, but maybe something to think about.
Hope you feel better soon.

Amazing. I've gotten one gift and had several trades here and I can't stop gushing about them. Without the good people here I would still be tumbling and cabbing my driveway. I guess there are just some people who don't make sense. That was a beautiful package of rocks.

I have also been on the receiving end and you do send out some nice gifts. Don't have any regrets about doing good deeds Daniel, do it for the reason you should be doing it, because you enjoy giving, with or without the appreciation. Nice gift BTW.

Dan, It was a nice gift, and it made you feel good about giving it to someone. Don't let their not posting about it or PM'ing you about it make you regret giving it in the 1st place. BTW,next time someone recieves a gift from me.....a Genie will suffice as a Thank-You! :^) Steve
