These are some pics of the amazonite that we collected at Moorefield mine. This stuff is real hit or miss. first it spent about 2 weeks in the 10 pound rotary then went into my vibe as filler. Amazonite is real strange to cut, it falls apart so I busted it up and tumbled it instead. The whole gang dark green piece light green piece thanks for looking

Looks like real variable stuff. The dark ones look good.

I have one chunk of amazonite I found in a "salted" bucket at a NC mine. Based on what you described as your experience with it, I think we'll just keep it as a display piece chunk!
I do like the weave of lines in both of the stones you show. I'd like to see that first one wrapped.

It might be a pain in the butt. But the ones that turned out sure are purty.

The ones that held together look good Jeremy. I just posted a cab in the cab section that I cut from some Amazonite I got from rockman 69. I like the way it catches the light and shimmers like sunstones or moonstones.

I do plan on wrapping some of them. Ed it is some crazy stuff. Your cab looks great. Hopefully the piece I sent you will hold up.

Nice, I haven't attempted anything that is that brittle.

Yeah, I like the darker pieces too. Looks like you got a good shine on the stuff and with that neat color and pattern, it'd make a fine addition to a tumble mix ....mel

Dang Feldspar minerals- they are so pretty to look at- but just buggers to work- Congrates on a really great tumble

Nice tumble. I have some amazonite that has reached phase 2. Mine, which I got from a local rock shop, is reported to have come from Canada. It seems to have pretty good color and seems pretty solid. I have cut a couple of cabs from it without it splitting apart, although I know what you mean about the texture. I was just lucky I guess.

One hint about amazonite. If you get a large sized crystal, and put a little mineral oil on it, look for a (frequently) silvery flash. Slab parallel to that, and you might get a killer silvery shimmer dancing around inside, like labradorite. This is also the best way to orient most star stones and other 'gimmick' stones like moonstone and sunstone. Every feldspar I've tried to do this to has had some sort of shimmer or flash. You need a single crystal to do this, though. Dan
