Howdy folks, Yesterday I sawed up one of my last few hunks of this material. I'm mainly a fancier of agate and jasper but if I had to pick a non quartz gem material this material would be in my top five! What's neat too, is the stuff cuts so easily (mohs 3-4) that you can't even hear the saw cutting. Sounds like the blade is running through air. Cabs like a dream too except can't be used for anything much except pendants as it scratches easily. E-Bayers are constantly changing the name and it's sold as Dunes Jasper, Desert Dunes Picture Rock, Guadalupe Picture Jasper etc. Actually, it's a cal-silicate and a type of dolomite or travertine. Got this example from Ron's Rocks and he calls it Oxaca Travertine as he bought it from the miner in Oxaca, Mexico.

Keep goin' Mel . . . and you can tile the bathroom. ;D ;D
Looks nice side by side, like matching woodgrain.

Those slabs are almost hypnotizing! I agree with Parfive - it looks like woodgrain. Nice material!

Thanks for the comments guys *S* Kewlest thing about this stuff is the pattern changes some with different orientations too. I still have a left over wedge of rock and I'll try to turn it another direction for another type scene....Mel

Yes, cool stuff. I like it. Of course I am interested to see how it is going to look when cut in other direction. Zoran
