Wow - That's some funky rock Mel, I'm highly impressed. What a collection, and well produced - that material takes a lovely shine! It all feels related - the pallet of colours ties it together neatly, but there's some incredible variation in pattern, fabulous! Thank you kindly Sir. ;D Harry. ( trudging noise as Harry shuffles out to the shed to tip his tumbler of flints, for that red jasper I've been waiting to run! )

Mel those are awesome. There's such a wide variety of types and sizes of poppies in there. That's amazing stuff! I even see some yellows in there. You know I have a fascination with poppy jasper. Steve

So I have to ask. Did you guys purchase the ranch just because you knew so much great rock was around it? ;D
That's some beautiful stuff Mel.. so many variations so close together.

Beef: *L* Actually no. My wife and I were into horses at the time and wanted a horse ranch/wildlife refuge. Had never seen Hornitos Jasper until we went into an old rock shop in Mariposa ( now closed) and I saw this slab of a wonderful new poppy jasper. I asked the shop owner where it was from, he told me, and danged if it wasn't where a our new property was located. I immediately went home, walked out in my pasture and found a small chunk that was followed quickly by a large boulder and I've been hunting it for about 15 years now. Shoot, even found a small piece in my driveway last month....Mel
