Well I struggled with shapes the week before so for this week I made myself some templates. I drew them up in CAD, printed them on heavy card stock and then cut out the shapes. I see where templates can really help you get the best pattern in a shape. It also speeded up the process. I cut about twice as many cabs using the templates. I also changed my saw blade. I cut some blue tiger eye last week that seemed to be plasticy. It ruined my blade! I couldn't cut anything afterward, even tried cleaning it with a brick. New blade cuts way better. Here are the slabs I cut including some unknown fortification agate, montana agate, unknown greenite thingy, and mozarkite. Here are the cabs I cut. Some unknown agate (gold plume?) and teritella agate Some more unknown agate and unknownite. I would love an ID on the unknownite, it has a waxy feel to the stone. Mozarkite and two knowns. Slice of unknown fortification agate. Of course all of the shapes are derivative of the work I see here. Any plagiarism is strictly intended as a compliment. Thanks for looking.

Nice cuts. You did a great job on the shapes! I think I like the shield shape the best... very cool. Dan

Nice job Tony! I have some of that greenite. Mine is a green jasper from the Mojave.

Tony, I like the progression to the cabs. Thats a great idea on making your templates too, never thought to do that. They look excellent.

Ok the Star trek one is very cool and so is the idea of making your own templates. Thanks for the pics!

Thanks for the compliments. Mitzi the turitella is hard and solid which worked well for the thin shape. I would not have been able to do that shape with some of the other stones I worked that day.
I will post a thread next week, once I'm back to work, offering to send the templates to anyone interested.
