East Texas agates are scarce, small, many have fractures and pits. No wonder I seem to be the only one trying to work with them. Mel started me thinking the other day, when he asked if some orbicular agate I have is named. As far as I know, no one has bothered to name this agate. Unless the other Texas members of the board object, I'm going to start calling it Caddo Agate in honor of the Caddo Indians that once lived here. Caddo Agate And a couple of Jaspers Thanks for looking! Curt

Very nice Curt! I had no idea you could find that type of stuff in E. Tex. The yellow moss is great! Dan

Thanks guys!
Dan Yup, it's out there, but ya got look long and hard.
Harry That one has lot's of hematite. Turned me red when I cut it. :-) I make a few cabs here and there, but I always keep at least one slab of each for my ever expanding collection.

Those are beautiful and I like the tribute you pay to the Native Americans in choosing a name for those rocks.

Curt, you say they are hard to find but you seem to have done a pretty good job of locating them. Nice rocks.

Interesting batch of slabs Curt! The moss is exceptionally nice. The rounded shape of the pebbles makes them look like they've been transported quite a ways by water or rounded by wave action. Looks like you've discovered the output from one of nature's tumblers....Mel

Thanks Guys!
Mel I've often wondered about these rocks. Some of them are in an irregular shape, but by far the most of them are rounded. I hunt a lot of creeks that have 10-20 ft. banks and this stuff comes right out of the ground rounded. You think they were formed that way or have had a previous life tumbling around in some water somewhere?
