Last spring, a friend of mine from work brought me some agates she found really cheap at a rock shop out west some where. Freeform(Shain) gave the ID(in my original post back then), as Berber Agates, I believe from the Mediterranean region. I finally got around to doing some serious cutting on them, and.... WOW!! - Are they ever gorgeous inside!!!! They look like some sort of plain coral on the outside and I was surprised to see what was waiting inside. I threw a couple of the slab pieces in the tumbler for a couple days to knock some of the rough off the outsides to see the patterns. Hope you like 'em! ;D Before cutting.... Now the cuts ..... Fractured druzy.... Lots of druzy!..... Whole lot of pattern in this one!....... A tiny oddball with a neat pattern - does anyone see the shapes of shoes??....... Thanks for looking! Dave

The one with a whole lotta pattern is sensational! They're all purty but that one really stands out. Nice stuff Dave!

Thanks guys! These agates are really neat, but they are kind of hard to work with. They tend to be super soft in the center with lots of mushy druzzy material. I am thinking about trying a few freeform pendants if the slabettes turn out good through polish. I was thinking of a polished center but trying to save the dimpled look of the outsides for effect. I'll have to do some experimenting.

I have a few of those that I won in a contest over at Shain's forum. I really like the colors. I havent cut mine yet. I have a couple of small slabs and partial nodules.

They seem to have a really nice variety of colors. Shame they're soft on the inside. Hopefully you will get something out of them.

Very neat agate! That next to the last one is really spectacular and looks exactly like some of those in the Agate book by Lenz. He says they're from Morocco....Mel

I'll second Mel on the Moroccan agate. I just saw a whole bunch of 'em at the East Coast show . . . they are real nice agates.
And so is that 2nd to last one you cut, Dave.
