Howdy! ;D (I lived in Texas for 2 years and I can still remember that warm and friendly greeting.)
Back in mid-July, Curt (Texaswoodie) sent me a PM about the Rucks' Pit Venus Clam geodes that we have here in Florida. I explained that none of my samples are in such great shape but once Bob and I can get back to the Pit in mid- to late September, I would look for a nice sample or two for him.
Then along came the BEST EVER Contest and Curt kept injecting his crazy sense of humor into the contest threads by posting entries where he shouldn't and asking fun questions and giving wonderful support to the contest in general. Since he didn't follow the rules he wasn't eligible for the Contest Prizes of FRBs of that gorgeous Mozarkite. BUT I got his addy and told him I had a Very Special Prize just for him.
This is a pic similar to what I sent Curt...a piece of an approximately 2 million year old Venus Clam shell with dogtooth calcite crystals.
Curt sent me a very nice thank you upon receipt of his Very Special Prize and in that message he wrote: "I'll be sending a little token of appreciation your way."
Now, I must be honest here. Ever since I first saw that to-die-for petrified wood with black druzy that Curt discovered I have been lusting for a piece of it. I entered contests; I posted in his threads; I even came right out and told him to send some over here to Florida! And when I read his Thank You message, well I just put my "Hoping Cap" on and started sending out vibes: "Oh please let that little token be a piece of pet wood with black druzy". I would send that message out into the Universe 3, 4, 5 times a day.
And guess what?
This arrived on Thursday!
Well, I also had been drooling over (and nagging Curt ) about his pet wood with yellow druzy that he found. And right after my mantra about the Black Druzy, I would add this message for the Universe: "Or maybe a piece of pet wood with yellow druzy. Oh Please. Oh Please."
An Lo!!! The Universe moved Curt to include this "little token" along with the Black:
You might think it ends there but then you would be forgetting that Curt is a TEXAN and they just don't quite have the same understanding of the word "little" as the rest of us. Along with those two gorgeous samples of pet wood with druzy (which will now go on display in my curio cabinet!!!), Curt also sent these other "little tokens":
Some "ordinary" pet wood!!!!
Some pet palm! (Did I mention that Pet Plam was in my third mantra to the Universe each day?)
Some "ordinary" jaspers!!!
A geode whose agatized interior reminds me of a rose...
A geode with a Loch Ness-type monster baring her brilliant fangs for all to see...
And a geode with a rock monster getting ready to chomp on the surrounding matrix.
So there you have it. A Texan's idea of "a little token of appreciation"!
We might not have 'em as big as Texas but our Thank Yous come from the heart, none the less. So...
Your "little token of appreciation" is a treasure I truly appreciate!!!
