I haven't made it here much in the last week or so - lots of overtime at work. But, I did manage to get away to the rock show in Toledo(OH) for a couple of hours last weekend. This was a first for me at one of the larger shows and I had a great time. I forgot the camera(as usual ), and there were so many cool exhibits and vendors, as one would expect. I didn't come anywhere close to overshooting my budget, but I did buy/find some cool stuff that will keep me busy for a while!
Take a look.....
One booth had a ton of Mexican Coconut Geodes, most hollow with lots of banded chalcedony/druzzy mixes inside. I saw some nice pieces, but wanted some that were solid for slabbing. The guys there thought I was a little crazy(they like the hollow ones better for some reason ) but managed to find a couple that were whole and colorful. The big one is a whopper at almost 20lbs!!.......
Next are a few Picture Jasper slabs. This is what I was really looking for and there was only one booth at the whole show selling slabs - kinda disappointed, but I found a few good patterns......
A sunset??
An underwater cave??
A couple dessert scenes......
On the way out, I came across a table of 5 gallon buckets that were filled with all kinds of rough. At $5 a bucket I had to take 2 of them. One was Flint Ridge Flint, and the other - a mix of Agates, Jaspers and Pet Wood. For that price, I wish I had bought a few more!!!!!
The Mixed bucket - lots of cool patterns and colors!! The big dark red one (URH corner) is about 3 fist sized....
The Flint Ridge Flint - great for knapping arrowheads too!!!......
Thanks for looking!!
Dave
