Hi, everyone! These days I've polished two slabs that I cut a while ago. The first one is in fact an end-cut of a pet wood: Doesn't it look like a hedgehog? The structure of this wood is amazing. Take a look at this close-up from the hedgehog's eyes area: And the second "slab" is actually a rock cut in half. The material is not very interesting, the shape of the rock with its natural hole attracted me. The other half belongs now to one of you, but I really don't remember whom I gave it. If the owner reads this, he/she is welcome to post it here. Thanks for looking, Adrian

Very nice Adrian! Is that pet wood slab the same as what you sent me?

Yes, Curt, it's from the same piece! I'm glad you recognized it. It's also fractured (like yours after mailing), but I glued it with epoxy and polished it. So, go give to your slab a nice face!

Wow Adrian, you can count the growth rings and determine how that tree was when it died. That really is phenomenal detail. By the narrowness of the rings I would say it was a very slow growing tree.

Tony, I think the narrow clearly lines are a sort of radius. The growth rings are also visible, but not so obvious: they are perpendicular to the narrow lines, and also not so dense.

Hiya - Adrian - those are just the most amazing pet wood photos I've ever seen. You can almost see the sawdust in the closeup! What an incredible level of detail you have showing there - really spectacular! I love the holes too! Keep expecting a catepillar to appear from them! Awesome rocks Sir - thanks very much for sharing them! Oh and watch out for wood splinters Cheers, Harry

Very nice Pet Wood Adrian! That first piece looks like it is fresh off of the tree - nice color and pattern. I see the hedgehog too - really cool!

OK Adrian, I see now. They are like the rays in oak.
