Hi, I polished today an agate slab, that I have from a rockhounding trip this summer. It proved to be a very nice agate: You can see better the colors in this picture: All these thin "scratches" are in fact very thin cracks, the rock took a mirror polish. Wowser is that shiny. You have this polishing slabs stuff down pat.

I guess it is safe to say it has a mirror like finish on it Looks like it will have some depth to it; maybe some floaters.

Yes, Spirit Stone, it is like a mirror indeed! And you're also right about the floating red sea weed sensation.

Thanks, Tony for the explanation! And yes, it gets better and better, but not every time. From time to time I find a cussed slab that keeps the scratches on it whatever I'll do. It happens mostly to materials which tend to fracture, and those tiny pieces ruin all the work.
