Howdy Folks I thought it had cooled down enough to do a little hounding, but I was wrong. I found maybe 100 pounds of lapidary stuff. I headed home all miserable and dejected and hot. On the way home I stopped at a little creek that I had stopped at before, but it was full of water at the time. This time it only had puddles and a mucky yucky bottom. Got down in the creek and it was full of good sized chunks of wood. I did a little looing around and found two stumps and several logs. This little creek had wood all over it. I left one stump because I was just too exhausted to haul it 15 ft. up the creek bank. I know for certain that if i had done some probing around in that muck, I could have found more stumps and logs. Maybe next time. The one in front is 27 inches long, it looks like somone sawed each end and then split it in quarters for firewood. The stump on the left is about 40-50 pounds This round one looks like the base of a small tree. 16 inches long Thanks for looking! Curt

Boy Curt you are surely the king of pet wood. I like the way all those pieces still resemble wood.

Nice finds Curt! Looks like it came right off the tree itself - I always like that type of pattern! Just remember that a bad day of 'hounding' is better than good day doing something else - its always great to get away and enjoy the land!

Curt, these are some amazing finds! We must have been brothers or some other close relatives in a previous live, look at my pet wood that looks pretty much like yours, just like it was splitted for fire! I don't want to know how do you feel your back after hauling these "pebbles" Adrian

Great finds, Curt. Where'd you go. I had hoped to do some collecting at Lake Livingston after the Houston show, but the water level was still too high -- not an inch of shore left.
We need to get a Houston-area/East Texas hunt going soon. What do you think? Think we could talk our nearby rockhounders into it?

Thanks Tony. I too love the wood look. I picked up some smaller pieces that look just like drift wood.
Yup Dave, rockhounding is great even with few rocks :-)
Nice chunk of wood Adrian. Maybe you should change your ID to romanianwoodie :-) I hauled out 2 backpacks of smaller pieces other than the big ones pictured. So it wasn't only my back, my entire body was aching.
Matt I'm going to have to wait until it gets lots cooler. After that, I'm game.
Thanks Brian. You're pretty darn good at finding wood yourself. :-)

Shannon Just little pockets. Nothing to speak of. My druzy site is about 60 miles from where I was at.

Dang Curt...That's one heck of a haul! Those are some huge pieces. I think you must have the nose to sniff out the logs. I'd like to find some nice chunks like that Steve
