Finally! ;D I finished my 1st Fish Bowl. Ever since I saw Ed's and KD's Fishies...I've wanted to make my own. And that's been a long while ago! Here it is... The fishies are brazilian, some of snowdogs Jade, and an idontknowite. I glue the googly eyes on with gorilla glue. I filled the bottom with my tumbled rocks, and may add some darker ones so the fish don't hide as well. It took me damn near an hour just to tie the fish on. I had some 2lb "frog hair" fishing line, and it's so fine that with my stubby fingers, I dang near quit! It's nice and invisible...but my patience was tried. I still need to paint the styrofoam lid black, and that may help bring out the fish a little more. It's been a blast doing this one, and I need to make 7 more before Christmas. I've got the fish, so I just have to sit down and do the rest. Please give me your honest opinions, and anything I can do to make them better. Thanks,Steve

I was just going to send you a pm and ask how you were doing with the fish bowl, and damned if you didn't post it! It came out great Steve, though I don't know about the Gorrilla glue. I haven't found a good use for that stuff yet! The fish look great and overall I think you did a great job. Now if you're going to call it "The never-needs-cleaning-fishbowl", you're going to have mention my name in the credits, or I'll have to take you to court for copyright infringements!!! Just kidding.

Very nice idea! You could try to put some long moss slabs as water vegetation, and maybe the eyes made of tiny rock pieces. This way, all would have been natural.
I don't get how are those fishes floating, how don't they sink on the bottom ... oh, yes, sorry, the frog hair fishing line, now i got it.

Wow, great job on that one Steve! I love the googly eyes too, I'll have to get some next time i'm at Michaels picking up supplies. ...but i've got a way to make those fish swim without any strings OR messy water, and NO other jigs or lids required. Not tellin' ya how cuz I haven't had a chance to try it yet but it's high on my list of projects to complete before Christmas. If it works the way I think it should, well it would look pretty awesome anyway and shouldn't be too hard to market as a great novelty decor item too... I've gotten a lot of my creative ideas from hanging out here so it's cool when people take some time to share their projects with everyone else.

Thanks Everyone for the kind words and making me feel so GOOD!!! This is actually one of the 1st projects I've realy done besides tumbling...and I feel goo about it. I've got to clarify one thing..this was an ED's Creation! (i don't wanna get sued..LOL) I didn't come up with the novel idea, but Stoner did. I just used it, because it is a wonderful idea. THANKS ED! We'll see if the gorilla glue holds up under water. It says it's 100% waterproof, so we'll see. If the eyes start falling off before X-mas...I'll have to figure something else out. It does make a sticky mess all over your fingers though...bad stuff. Adrian..neat idea with all the natural rock and such. I may have to try a couple eyes out of bitty pieces. Lots of other great ideas that never quit flowing out of the minds of fellow RTH'ers. LCARS...c'mon...don't keep secrets. I'm actually thinking you're coming up with a magnetic type system for the fish to float. Not sure, but a guess. Please keep us informed of your new idea. Thanks again everyone for making my head swell to a melon. I needed to hear some good things. Steve

Well Steve, I figure I'll get a better response when I post the pics if I don't tell anyone how I did it.... for a while anyway. Ya know, the mystery just adds to the "wow" factor. ;D Another thing you can try for keeping things glued under water is "Shoo Goo". It's sort of like a cross between silicone and hot glue in consistency and it holds real tight. The only downside is the curing time (24hrs before submerging). Just a thought...
