Well folks Akansan offered to wrap my stones for a Xmas present for my Wife and daughter and for that I appreciate her. So here is the process in pictures that i go through just to produce one cut stone. Hope you enjoy the pics and Akansan I hope you enjoy the stone made for you. I will name it after you and call it the Akansan Emerald. The first step Starting to form the shape and the roundness You can now see the shape taking place and me still cutting away. Ouch i slipped yet again. Now that Ive separated the two parts I need to make a flat bottom so more grinding and cutting. Finished cut. Now to polish it up a wee bit. All Finished man it took a shine real well hope you all enjoyed the making of the Akansan Emerald.

just noticed that the next to the last pic you can see the green glow of the emerald better even with the polish on it. I really need to learn how to photograph rocks. This was all done with a rotary tool .

How many can you do before your fingers are completely bandaged? Looks like its a painful but worthwhile method.

I just finished another from the same stone I cut the Akansan Emerald yesterday no scratches this time I'm getting better ill post up some pics of it in a bit. Its really not that bad, its fun and keeps me entertained that's why I do it. If you cant have fun at something why do it right. Anyways Ive done about 20 so far and have 3 scratches so all in all not bad.

Just a thought... Wouldn't it be easier (less painful) if you put the stone a small dop stick of some kind? Garry

For some but I prefer to hold the stone. Dop sticks are for Sissy's. LMAO
