Tony, That is really sweeet! I am NOT suprised at all that you were able to sell your Jade Knives at the festrival this yaer. I think they are a great idea, and you make some very nice knives. As far as knapping, I'm nbot sure if Jade is one of those heat=treatable stones or not. Much of the material knappers use, has to be heat-treated. It would be cool if Jade was one of those stones. Great job Tony! I really like the combination of materials - makes for an awesome finished piece! I've been thinking of trying to make one also - that link to Shane's tutorial is a big help!
Not sure about knapping the Jade - never tried before. With knapping, you need a material in which you can control the flow if your strikes to some degree to produce even flakes and chips. If the Jade is a fiberous make-up like you say, it might not break cleanly enough give the desired results. I am not an expert on the knapping yet, being somewhat of a beginner, but these are my thoughts.

Great knife Tony, I haven't had the courage to try one yet.

FYI- Jade does not knap- the fiberous make up of its cystaline structure prevents the proper fracture profile! nice Knife Tony- Very nice!
