Hey all. A while back I had some work done by a termite exterminator company and one of the guys saw my cabs and we started talking about the rocks. He told me he had a friend who lives about 30 minutes south of me that has a mine in Mexico and goes down there quite often and brings back rocks to sell. After a failed attempt last weekend(language barrier) I brought along my friend from work who speaks spanish and wound up buying quite a bit of rainbow obsidian. This stuff is awesome, and he says this is just his medium grade material. Here is a 13.6lb chunk with a polished surface. Close up of some of the colors. Here are some cabs. I'll be offering some of this obsidian for sale after I get it washed up and showing the colors. I'll post it in the for sale/trade section.

Ed that really is beautiful stuff. I can envision a rainbow obsidian knife for sure. Set a slab aside for me as I will buy one.

Man, that first hunk is amazing and I love the cabs! Shoot, I've got to try cabbing some of the stuff I bought from Teresa's rocks. Got it all slabbed but just can't seem to get around to the cabbing *L*....Mel

WOW Ed that is fantastic! Woohoo! is that first piece a flat piece or is it faceted?
I looooooooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooove rainbow obsidian - and agree that they're a PITA to photograph! but you did great on all of the above!
Got any room at your place for a very immature adult who likes to cab?

That is the nicest rainbow I've seen. The stuff I find at the shows here in the east barely has any color. Hard to believe that is the meduim grade stuff. The color in the cabs is the nicest I've seen in obsidian.

Beautiful cabs. I trust they didn't come from the big 13 lb chunk, 'cause that one's a real beauty just the way it is! -Don
