Saturday was my daughter's 12th birthday and since she's been taking guitar lessons she wanted a guitar cake. I took a cake decorating class a long time ago and I'm not a big fan of these "character" cakes since it's a long process and I'm guaranteed of a sore wrist. She asked if she could help with decorating it, and I said she could do it if she wanted. This is her first cake - no official lesson (apart from my great teachings! ) Here is her first cake - her friends were pretty impressed - as was I - her own real guitar is blue Thanks for looking

Happy Birthday to your daughter! She seems to be not only a guitar-player, but also a tallented cooker!

Yours came out a lot nicer than mine did. Here's the bass guitar cake I made for my Son's 14th birthday...

have you ever watched that program on the Food Channel called "Ace of Cakes"? it's amazing what talented people can do with cake and fondant. didn't Bear's wife put together an amazing cake for his son's wedding?
great cakes, you guys!

Amazing cake! I used to do that, when my kids were younger. Now, they think it's lame to have a funky theme birthday cake. Your daughter did a SUPER job! I know how hard it is to do that! And how fun, that she did it herself.
And, Michaeljohn, your cake was wonderful, too. It ROCKED! I'll bet your son was pretty darn thrilled. That cake is going to come back at you in a good way. Kids remember things like that, even if they are 'too cool' to acknowlege it at the time. You scored some major Dad points there! Way to go!
