Interesting........Ive been watching their Opal Butte for the last few weeks. Its been going for around $30. One was a large slab too. Not sure why this one is so special, it looks just like their others.

I agree. E-Bay prices for the nicer pieces have been pretty crazy lately! Guess it's a combination of the demand exceeding the supply of nice slabs and bidders just flat going nuts over bidding *LOL*....mel

OK, now that is just crazy on that Death Valley Plume! It's nice stuff but very problematic to cut as the yellow areas tend to be much softer or pitted and need treatment. Man, that is a high price for an endcut but at 33 bids, someone wanted an example of that material real real bad! The Fairburn though, of that size and real pretty, man on those the sky can be the limit....Mel

Pffft ... I'm less than 5 miles from Death Valley. Somebody needs to tell me where to find that stuff! I can't believe that anyone would pay that kind of money for slabs, yet there are a lot of bids! Those people need to get a grip on reality.
Seriously ... anyone know where to collect it?

If bidding has already ended, I can only see the items you are linking to for a second, and then the screen tells me the bidding has ended and shows me other items from the same seller. How can I keep the image of interest up on the screen? Thanks.

I think it just bumps the image down Huff - try scrolling down to see if it's below the other items for sale. That's what happens to me anyway...

Amy, page down, the whole auction page is there.
It looks like I picked the wrong time to take up this hobby. Can we change the site from rock tumbling to crochet? ;D

Ooops, silly me. Thanks everyone! I get in too much of a hurry trying to read all that has been posted and don't take time to explore....

Seriously? it is now a federal offense to collect it since DV was made a national park- the material is effectively "extinct" which is one of the primary reasons it fetches such insane prices

MIchaeljohn: Rally's correct. I've only heard Wingate Pass as the location for the Death Valley Plume but the park has been expanded so much I'm sure the site is well within the boundries now. Same with the Indian Paint Rock that was from around Saratoga Springs somewhere. Someone also told me the Owlheads are out of bounds now but I'm not sure on that one...Mel
