OK, Randy was complaining about not enough pics so I decided to take some pics from my "too big for the saw collection" Just a little eye candy rough for ya all and of course it's poppies *L*. Thanks for looking.....Mel Boulders from the old Flora Claim diggings: Most from this site is either white on red or pink on red. These are all big'uns. I got this at a sale and it's the one poppy form I've not been able to ID. Anyone knows it please let me know please! One of my favorite poppy types, Uvas Creek Jasper from near the Morgan Hill site: A big nodule of Sierra Primrose Jasper from a neighboring ranch: Monster boulder ( my largest) from the Firefly Jasper dig. have yet to find any of the other hunks that plainly broke off this piece. Need more digging at this site. This rascal was mighty uncomfortable to pack out of the brush! I thought I was gonna croak before I got it back to the truck. Oops forgot a couple of pics! This is a huge 70# + nodule of Indian Valley Poppy Jasper from Big Sandy Creek near Fort Hunter-Leggett. You really can't see the poppies well as they all run together but if you look carefully at the closeup, you can see a green and yellow poppy in the center. Very pretty stuff!

Mel that last one is out of this world!! Where by Fort Hunter-Leggett did you find it? Sometimes I take Nacimento road to get to the coast. Have you ever taken that route? It is a real scenic drive. Is it plentiful around there?

Tony: If you can get access to Big Sandy Creek in Indian Valley back of San Miguel it's full of Stone Canyon type jaspers and poppy jasper. My buddy and I used to have access to a giant ranch there where we could hunt several miles of Big Sandy. That rancher has moved and died now so we can't go there anymore but you can go to the other side of the hills and hunt the Jack Varian Ranch which is a fee dig with fine camping. Just go to Parkfield ( the earthquake capitol of Calif *L*) and ask about the Varian Ranch. The Varians own the motel and restaurant in town and they are very nice folks. The plus is the creek on the east side of the hills is even larger than Big Sandy and has huge boulders of jasper in it plus tons of neat fossils....Mel

Mel, although all of them are great, you saved the best for last! What a color combination!
