I went to a small rock show this weekend and bought a few slabs of unknown agate. Any help in their identificaiton would be appreciated. A chunk of chrysoprase, looks to have at least one really nice cab in it. An attempted back lit photo A sweet slice of Montana Other side of Montana, very different. Some kinda pic jasper Unknown but really really really cool green rock Unknown agate Same backlit Unknown agate Same backlit Last unknown agate Backlit The slabs were all $1 a piece, a bargain I thought. Thanks for looking. TonyM

Great aquisitions! That green clamshell, the shells prints (the darker areas) are they hollow, or filled with translucent agate?
Could that "Some kinda pic jasper" be a sort of wood?

Tony: The picture jasper looks to be Owyhee jasper and we call the fossil rock "Devil's Toenails" out here though it's often marketed as Clam Chowder Stone. Sometimes the fossils are clams, sometimes brachiopods, and sometime Crepedulids ( cradle or slipper shells). Whatever, it's very cool stuff!....mel

Great Stuff- The clamshell agate is most likly a Limestone- a bit softer than an agate- but it does cab up pretty sweet- last 3 agates are some real nice stuff! I'm gonna guess the clear and yellow ones are a graveyard plume- the red is probably some red moss from AZ??

Thanks all. Adrian, the rock is solid, no voids. Mel, I'll stick with Devil's Toenails, much more colorful than clam chowder stone. Not to mention I have developed an alergy to clams.

Photo #9 looks like it has some common opal in it? Some of my Richardson Ranch t-eggs look like that.............agate with common opal in varying colors from cream to green.
