While a bunch of you guys were in AZ filling your trucks with beautiful rocks and Mel was fighting cactus in the Mojave, I was in Arkansas looking at trees. My wife and I make several trips each year to AR and this time of year especially. The color normally peaks around the last of Oct., but this year it still has not peaked due to the warm weather. Arkansas Geology Hidden in plain sight Although Arkansas is not known for lapidary materials, it has a lot of crystals and minerals. I did manage to stop by a rock shop and pick up what I think is a bargain or two. Three 2 x 2 1/2 inch dino slabs for $2 each. Large amethyst lace slab for 50 cents Two picture jasper slabs for $2 Someone please help with ID's 1.2 pounds of Leopardskin Jasper for $1 9 Pound chunk of Turetella (sp) Limestone for $5 And for good measure, he threw in this 1/2 pound chunk of gray dino bone for free ;D Thanks for looking Curt

I gotta get me to that rock shop. $2 a slab for nice dino bone, are you kidding me, and they threw in the big chunk to boot. Man you robbed 'em blind. The other rocks are good too.
