Wow puppie what a great haul. Looks like a lot a pet wood. A lot a great colors too. There is one rock I find particularly intriguing. It's the red rock with the little white spots. Fourth picture down on the left. Do you know what it is?

Yes, I know the one you mean. It also has a bumpy texture. I've picked up some fairly large pieces of this same type in that area. It's usually in relatively thin sheets. Looks to be maybe the bark or the outside layer of a tree trunk or branch, would be my guess, and the pebbly stuff was pressed into it during the petrification process -- the logs are often encased in a matrix of conglomerate and I guess if this wood was spongy, those white things could be pebbles that got into the wood, or maybe areas that were mineralized in some particular way. Others may know more. Were you wondering about bone? I have several pieces that I thought might be bone, I'm going to look at them more before I post them.

You picked some gorgeous pieces! That brown-redish stump in the center of the tray - first pic is a real beauty!

Great looking Wood Pup. I am pumped just thinking that I get to explore that area in a few weeks. I really like the close-up of the one in the 2nd to last pic. The red piece of wood and the one on the left with the designs. Steve

Excellent haul! I see some real pretty hunks in that pile. Great to see that Woodruff is still yielding lots of nice finds. One of those almost looks like a prairie Agate. Woodruff's always been a favorite in my book!...Mel

That must be so fun, having access to that type of variety. Talk about satisfying the hunting/gathering instinct!

Makes me want to go back and collect again, but I still have so much from last time that I think I'll just wait.

Mel, that piece blows me away. It does look very similar to the rock in Tepee Canyon.
I haven't even posted the big pieces yet.

Nice pics and great haul!! I like the piece in pic four, top middle. Kinda a peachy brown color. It looks very interesting and might yield a design or two. Thanks for the adventure Puppies!!

Wow, you really scored some nice wood. I'm wishing I had made it down there, but it worked out because my wife and mom were tired from the petrified forest. That is some beautiful stuff and a great variety of colors. Steve
