Well, I guess this will be the last of my birthday for this year. I like it when it gets dragged out for a week! My in-laws gave me a really cool t shirt with a couple of Fender Strats on it and also a $50 gift certificate to my local rock shop. So I went over there to spend it today and got the VIP treatment from Rick(the owner). He took me in the back room where he keeps all the primo stuff and gave me a great deal on some nice stuff. I got up to $35 and decided to go back out in the store to see what I could get for the remaining $15. Here's the slabs some favs Royal velvet obsidian with more color than just green Okay, not a slab, but a chunk of rose rutilated quartz sodalite moss ? agate A couple of nice pieces of turquoise And here's what I found in the $1/lb buckets And my sister-in-law went to the rock shop and bought these Montana agate slabs for me It's great when your whole family thinks you're nuts, but supports you anyways!

What a treat to be able to go into the back room! I've poked my head in a few times and thought about how nice it would be to go in there. I like the royal velvet obsidian and really like that moss agate. Those red agates from the $1 bucket are real nice! I gotta get back there! Glad you had a rock filled birthday. Happy birthday Ed. I like the concept Birthweek Some really nice looking slabs. That rose rutilated looks awesome. That velvet obsidian looks like a carnation real close up or some kinda multi thin petaled flower. Happy cabbing

Ed, your sadism is endless! How could you show us that gorgeous royal velvet? You might have kept it secret! Now, that I saw it, it's hard to say about any other rock "it's beautiful".
Oh, and why do you need money? Just tell Rick that you'll make for him a cab from each slab he gives you, and you'll have plenty of rocks!

That is the nicest Royal Velvet I have seen. I had a piece with those colors, but much more muted.

I see the faces too Roxy, and they all have those big black eyes, but the faces aren't green! This is the best royal velvet I've seen. The stuff I bought was mostly green and yellow. BTW, they guy that sells it on ebay is now selling a lb for $12.50. And no Tweetie, it's not cabbed yet.

Holy moley Ed that is one heck of a haul. The obsidian in gorgeous and as is that montana. I don't think I've seen rutilated rose quartz before, but then again I don't get out much. LOL Looks like you had one heck of a birthday week.
