My 14" saw is up and running!! Ed the Stoner Wonder came over and got it up and running!! No easy task, he had to take out the inside rail and vice out to put in the new blade, fiddle with all things that moved, and showed me lots of tips and tricks to get me slabbing!!! AND he also brought me all kinds of rock gifts. What a guy!! Boulder Opal, rainbow obsidian, dendritic rock... Here's the saw, the $62 deal that Tony found and 'sniped' for me and I picked up in Clovis: Here's 'Mabel' gutted by Ed: And here's some of the BUrro Creek rock we slabbed, and then I kept on slabbing after Ed headed home. I kept at it until 1:30 am in the morning, before I MADE myself stop!! ;D This is the rock that got us really excited! Picked it up near that first area of white stuff the last day at Burro Creek. Ed, I can't wait to see what you do with the slabs from this! That's all....for now! Bwahahahahaha!!! ~Dee

Yep, you've got it bad dee, slabbers addiction. We're going to have to get you to go to the meetings at SA! You've got a great saw and we'll get the blade changing problem solved and then there will be no stopping you. Looks like you found some nice pieces. I'll try and cab some of that cool slab today and I'll post the pics here.

OK so the gauntlet has been thrown down, I need to get my saw up and running now for sure.
Dee, what blade did you go with? and where did you get your oil?
Yes $62 for a 14"-er was a great deal, but I still think I got THE deal of all deals with my 18" for $50.

------------ and never to be seen again !! ;D ;D --- weeks from now I can just see it --- "Yes, we use to know a person that was named "Dee" but the only thing that we've seen lately is a big ole pile of slabs where her house use to be !" ---- slight trickle of oil mist running down the drive, buckets of rock slurry stacked like a wall , and dump trucks unloading tons & tons of boulders ! ( prob just Tony) ;D --- if you want to find her then listen for the whine of the "blade turning " ( 24 hours a day ) ;D --------- just have "FUN" while your doing it !

Of course, when Roxy tells me I'm <..one of them!> exactly what does she mean?? lol! Hey, rallyrocks, consider the gauntlet thrown! I still have a few that'll I'll have to take a sledghammer to, until you or Stoner get your 18" up and running! I'm using food grade mineral oil from a feed shop in Dixon for $13.50 a gallon. Mabel uses 3 gallons. They said they could 'give me a better price' if I bought it by the case, which is 4 gallons. I bought the blade from BUTW on ebay. Yep, $50 for an 18" beats mine, but I'm slabbing already! ) Dave, too funny. Maybe I should think of doing my entryway in slabs like you are...ha! Thanks for all the nice comments. I'm just having soooo much fun! I'm also hanging around waiting to see Stoner's cabs!! ~Dee

Okay Dee, here are a few cabs from that slab we cut yesterday. Are you slabbing again? Both of these started out much larger and much different, but I kept hitting soft spots and fractures. Still came out nice.

Great to see it up and running. That was quick! THose cuts are nice looking, especially that orangey sunset looking stuff. I'm still amazed at the deal you got on that saw. It looks like it's in ggreat shape with minimal rust. Between you, Pete, and I with my $50 16"-er, we should start a "dirt cheap saw" club.
Yeah Pete, when do we get to see your beast up and running?
Getting mineral oil from a feed store is a good idea. Is the viscosity good? I'm getting tired of making multipule walmart runs to get more mineral and baby oil every time I need more.
Awesome looking cabs Ed. From the looks of those slabs I bet you couldn't wait to get home and cab those beauties. Both came out great. Steve

WOW, Ed, I love that first cab especially! You really got that wonderful lavendar area of agate! Have I been slabbing...what a silly question. lol! As soon as I got home from work, it was running again. Poor Mabel will get no rest! Then before Genie got jealous, I did a cab from one of the '2-cab wonder' slabs from day 1! Ooooh Roxy, now you've put the word out! Roxy wants to play too!! YAHOO!

That IS hilarious, Curt's right! Maybe all those darn rocks were hiding all the elk, so Tony had to toss them in his truck...lol! Well, I'll have to wait a little to post more, Tony! I broke Mabel already! I was slabbing some dino bone, when I heard a piece fly off. Bits of belt all over the floor. "Geez" thought I, "I broke the motor! I have to get Mabel a new motor!" but luckily, dear son stopped by and pulled off the broken part, and handed it and the belt to me and directed me to Home Depot for replacement parts. Thank god he inherited his sensibility from his Dad, and not me! Karen, it's SOOO much fun! I just got my agate/jasper box from Jamie and there's a piece of turritella (sp?) and some stuff that 'might' be dino bone that I want to slab!!!
