Nice bunch of slabs John! Think he meant to say Big Diggins Agate, from the Big Diggins group of claims south of Deming, New Mexico. Went collecting there once. Lots of neat agate types there ranging from Chihuahua type fortifications to every variety of moss, plume and sagenite you can think of. Got it down on my short list of spots to revisit!....Mel

Lucky you! Wish my mailman would show some interest. Then maybe he wouldn't look at me like I have rocks in my head.

You guys must do your mail different to us. I wouldn't even know what my mailman looks like...or even if he or she is a man or a woman. As far as I can tell it's a different person every other day.
John, you scored big time with your postie (mailman) and big time with that Big Diggins agate.
Your story bough a smile to my face.
Mike

What a hoot! I gave my Schwan's man rocks and the beginner tumbler for his kid. Started when he wondered about the rocks I had been smashing on my front steps. (Not good rocks!! Some pet wood that was already fractured etc.) So I go to the door, and there he is, holding a chunk of rock, asking where I got it.... And then he notices the other rocks I had spread out on the floor! The upshot of the story? I passed on my very first tumbler w/rocks and grit. What fun!
Wish I had a mailman like yours, tho! The folks at the PO laugh at me now. Heavy box! Yep. What ya sending, Karen, rocks? haha. Yep!

That is way too cool, we very rarely get to see our mailman unless it is a very large box that won't fit in the larger lock boxes we have up the street. Tami

Beautiful slabs, John!
Here is different too. I have to go to the PO to pick myself the pack.

Hehehe oddly enough, I take my outgoing boxes to the PO so that my mail lady doesn't have to mess with them. I figure it's bad enough that she has to deliver the occasional incoming rocks. I'd get free delivery confirmation if I paid online and had her pick them up.

Wow, John, what a great story!
I don't see our current mailman much, but I think the FRBs I have been receiving have cramped his style - he was used to driving up the driveway and throwing packages at the front door (10-15 feet)! (The letters go to a block of boxes at the bottom of the street). Not anymore, now that I'm a rockhound!
Growing up, I always knew when the mail was coming in the summer because I could smell the cigar smoke! He even picked up the garden hose one day while I was sunbathing and threatened to drench me with it! Very nice guy. I miss the friendliness of the mailbox at my front door.
And what a blessing for him, too, since he can share in his parents' love of rocks by sharing rocks and time with you!

Thanks for sharing all! I guess we are one of the last houses on his route. I get off at 4:30 and he is driving by when I get home, so naturally we say hi and started talking and when the FRB began coming well he asked that question "Whats in there rocks?" LOL The rest is now history! john

Sweet slabs John! Gotta love a rockin' mail man I'm thinking I need to put something good in the box this week for my postal carrier. Lord knows she's carried some heavy boxes this year! lol

How funny! I don't see our mailman...actually it's a mail lady much. She's used to delivering weird stuff to my house, though. As an avid fishkeeper, I've gotten more than a few fish through the mail.
