I'm in Ohio. I'm real new to this. I just got a lortone QT12 for Christmas. I have a question about large rocks. I have some that are about 4 inches long 2 to 3 inches wide and between 2 and 4 inches thick. Are these to large to polish?

With a 12 pounder, I would only run one rock of that size at a time. Make sure that you use lots of .5 to 1.5 rocks with it. When you get to polish, make sure that you use lots of plastic pellets as the large rock will he hard on the smaller ones and the pellets will help cushion.

I had 8 rocks that started out about 4" wide and about 2" thick rolling in my 12#. I just took them outta 46/70 after 7 weeks. They shaped up pretty nice. Alot smaller now though. Like Ron said make sure you fill the rest of the barrel up with smaller rocks. The smaller ones shaped faster so I just dumped more in there when the small ones were done. I don't know what I'm gonna do with them when they are all polished, they are to big for a candy dish, maybe paper weights. Here is what they look like just outta 46/70.

welcome 2slow and yes you can tumble that size with your 12lber but only one or two at a time. I'd saw the rest to smaller ones or bust them up with a hammer to fill the barrel

Oh wow, Love the pink and green one! I can't wait to start tumbling rocks we find. I hope we can find some good stuff around here. The old rock shop we visited had nearly all geodes, but they mined agate around here so there MUST be some good stuff lying around in the creek beds :-)
