Hello All,
I'm Steve from Ridgefield Washington. You may all know me better as "Visitor".
I'd like to first thank all of you for unwittingly supporting me with my new found tumbling hobby since Christmas, this year. I've been lurking in your forums gleaning advice for some time now and am ready to come forward.
It all started with a Thumlers AR-2 for Xmas. With no rock in my inventory, I begged 2 cans of beach agates from my sis. Within five minutes my 2 barrels were charged and ready to roll. Now what to do? This is painfully s l o w! I'll need another tumbler if I want to keep busy, so I got another AR-2. By this time I start buying some rough rock on line and when it arrives, all my barrels are full and I still have nothing to show...... I need to grind more, faster. Thumlers 15 pounder arrives and now I'm grinding some rock! Use only 46/70 in the big one and then pass them through the smaller barrels. Had all the problems I read about on RTH, (I just never shared them). Thank you all again!
Within 5 months of getting into tumbling, I feel a need for a saw because of all the neat pics of cut tumbles I see here. I've been busting rough with a hammer and chisel and busted my little finger too. (Looks better now, hope the feeling returns soon). Anyway, I've ordered a PF-10 from the Rock Shed and would like my hobby to move to slabs and cabs also. While waiting for this saw, Craigslist had a 14" saw with 12" blade and a hundred pounds of rough. All clean & shiny, with oil, cart, light, power feed and auto stop, delivered, for $375. This was a steal! It hasn't stopped running since. Yes, I sprayed myself twice in the first 2 hours! (Close the lid idiot).
Just signed in with Photobucket and I'm learning how to post pics. Hope to have some up in a few days with pics of my saw, slabs and a collection of agates, fossils, coral & dino bones, also stolen from a seller on Craigslist.
