Hello everyone, My first tumbled stones are still in the tumbler, with 800 grit. In a few days I want to wash them in borax (or soap, if i don't find borax). Must I add pellets while washing? Please take a look at the picture below. Is this Tripoli? Thank you for help, Adrian

I've got some tripoli. Mine is finer and yellower though. Sort of like coarse corn meal. I wonder if what you have is ground corn cobs? I know some people use those but I haven't tried them.

It is yellower in reality than in the picture. It came with my Lortone tumbler, but I had no user's manual.

yeah, my tripoli is more butter colored. I wonder. What's in the pic looks more like kitty litter to me. Any chance they might have put some of that in the box to keep the lortone from rusting? I have an idea. Put a few grains in a glass of water and see if it melts away to mud after a little bit.

And Yes I use Pellets in the Borax stage- They have come that far- don't want them to get all chippy just as your finishing!!! My Tripoli is a yellow powder- Not sure what that is???
