Have a Raytech Hustler vibrating flat lap (15") Mom always said I wasn't the brightest bulb in the batch, so I guess when a 'bright' idea comes thru after a few years I'm not surprised.
As ya know, the vibe flat lap sure can be messy when everything isn't perfect, and it only takes a few hours for a perfect set-up to regress to less than ideal.
Before the New Years office party comes around grab ahold of all of the lamp shades and put them aside so they won't be damaged. I found one that fit perfectly inside the tray and have held it down with three lightweight bungee cords.
Now when it spatters it is contained, adjustments and checks can be handled from the top without having to remove it.
Also use motorhome and trailer 'putty tape' to stick the home poured lead weights as well as Kroger coffee can lids to the slabs. Weights hold them down and lids act as bumpers.

I made a plywood box and set mine inside. The sides were about eight inches taller than the pan. I covered the sides with newspaper to catch the mess. Made cleanup pretty easy. For bumpers I had a lot of braided plastic tubing scraps from work. I cut various lengths and joined them with short pieces of 3/8 copper tubing (also scraps from work). Placed the rock inside the tubing rings and let them move around with the rocks. Also you can minimize the mess by running a thicker slurry. All the excess water being thrown out isn't doing anything more than making a mess. Sometimes double side tape will hold the weifghts on. I used a sealing putty my employer donated but wax, putty, lots of things will work if the rock is clean to start.
