I think a thread pertaining to the items in your/my/our extended shop that we cannot live without would be pretty neat. I really like the Loctite 'Precision' super glue, Snap silicon spray, JB Weld epoxy putty and 20 Mule Team borax. These items have become essential in my shop. They are commonly found at Walmart or the local hardware, are inexpensive, work better (in most cases) than their lapidary branded counterparts and are true multi purpose products. I know there must be a pile of others out there that I have not 'discovered' so what works for you? Bob ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

O.K.,for rough tumbling in a rotary tear up some newspaper and add it.This causes the slurry to form faster so the cutting then starts earlier.I just do this in rough-never tried it in other cycles.I use about two sheets in a 12 pounder.Sawdust works just as well if you have access.Mike.

Great idea, with one addition: we need to know WHY these things are essential. I can guess why the super glue and borax; but ...Snap silicon spray, JB Weld epoxy putty Why the silicon spray and epoxy putty?

I use the silicon spray as a lubricant on my diamond paste covered, canvas pad.
I can add bandaids to the list.

The #1 most useful thing that I have on my cabbing table (and Im not sure how those that dont have them manage), is a pair of tile nippers. Instead of having to use a trim saw every time I need to cut something, I use my tile nippers. On small slabettes I can just nip the general shape of the cab that I want without having to use my saw at all. It saves a ton of wear and tear on your saw blade and all of the little nipped pieces go in my tumbling bucket. My tile nippers sit right next to my cabbing machine at all times. If Im working on a cab and a fracture or pits appear, I will just take my nippers and nip off that part and then re-shape the cab. This also saves wear and tear on my grinding wheels. This obviously wouldnt work on large slabs where you dont want to waste any material but if you are like me, you have a ton of small pieces and slabs.
You can get tile nippers at any hardware store.
