I was actually thinking to using mine more like druzies after i saw that the color was only on the outside. My husband is a chemist, so maybe I will ask him about the copper sulfate and if it's something I can get, I might try it.

My husband said copper sulfate is dangerous to work with and would rather I didn't bring any into the house......ok, I guess I can live with that. There must be other ways to oxidize that rock. It does occur naturally, according to wikipedia.

My, how things change over the decades. When I was obtaining my chemical engineering degree lo those many years ago, copper sulphate was regarded as a fairly benign chemical no more dangerous than toilet cleaner, and requiring nothing more than rubber gloves to protect any sensitive skin. Like any metallic sulphate, it can be harmful if ingested, but most people wouldn't do that anyway. If you have small children that get into things you certainly would not want them downing any, though.
