My guess is that it is a "bubblegum agate". Should take a great shine. You can search the members photos board for pics of polished bubblegum agates.

Here's the picture that shows the bubble gum agate. The shape of it suggests a petrified broken birds egg. Click on each thumbnail then hold the curser on top of the photo. When the "print" icon shows up in the upper left corner another icon shows up in the lower left. Click on that one and explore the stone closer. Really interesting piece.
