Are the peachy-pink areas bleeding/smearing/staining from that darker band at the bottom or is the rock colored that way?

The rock is just colored that way. Very cool stone.

I have a piece that looks like the end cap of this rock that was cut with the grain and not cross-grain. It looks like this: It's a thumbnail that you can click on and then remove your curser then place it back on the image to bring up the "printer" icon in the upper left corner and the "enlarger" icon in the lower right corner. Click on the "enlarger" icon. Now, you can see that this rock does look similar to the stone that was being cut cross-grained. Doesn't it?
