I've seen similar images but not the exact same that were ID'd as White Cave Onyx. But these look a little different. I'm not sure what kind they are but I thought maybe I could get some help here. This first slab I have looks to have been cut a while back and the other side is just plain rough rock that you can barely see the pattern. This next rock is made up of a cluster of nodules. Each nodule is layered like pearls are. These may be the White Cave Onyx And this next one is also made up of several nodules with smaller rocks made up the same way next to it. These final pictures are of two different pieces that have sedimentary layers from the outside in with Clear Quartz growing on top of these layers. It almost looks like the inside of a giant geode but it's supposed to be Onyx. What do y'all think? Thanks for any and all help! Joe Let me add some pictures that were taken closer to the stones. This piece is only about an inch and a half long and an inch high. And it's represenative of several of the nodes that I was able to break apart from larger pieces. The rock that this one came from was the size of a small cantaloup. It almost looks like someone tried to make a rock soccer ball! Each "node" looks to be made like a pearl is made. A center piece surrounded by layers of the white lines with quartz-like material in between.

Hey Jrtrio,
what you got here is mostly onyx. calcite onyx to be more exact. except for the piece with the quartz cap as you note. The third pic is calcite for certain from Mexico. but i could be wrong on the locale. the pearly piece is most likely perlite. the stuff in potting soil, and many other things. That’s my best ID but location would or could be anywhere. They all should display soft cutting?

Calcite Onyx is white not this color yellow. That's what's got me wondering where did this Onyx truly come from. It's similar to several different Onyx's. Close to White Cave Onyx, Close to Calcite except that Calcite doesn't have the nodules like this stuff does. It reminds me of a soccer ball. The way the nodules grow around each other in a circle. Some of the pictures I took weren't very good color wise, nor did they show the nodules like I wanted. Check these out. Now look at the nodules in the middle, you'll see that they are connected like they were part of a ball. Don't be fooled by the "wings" because that's another rock sitting behind it.

Several pieces look just like honey onyx I collected in Utah. It has the same pattern and some a very nice orange color. I have been told that when exposed to light or heat the color fades to white, but still with the translucent banding very pretty stuff. I just got a digital camera and if I can figure out how will post some pictures

onyx is mainly made of of calcite. Chalcedonic onyx would be more typicaly of banded or lace agate. What you got Jrtrio is onyx. Mainly calcite. I have seen, handled and cut much of this stuff, and more often it is yellow and not white. Those nodules you are seeing are cross sections, broken to expose the layers which makes onyx, onyx. They broke in a way that makes it look like a nodule, but it not not even close to what an actaul nodule is. Honey Oyx, Mexican onyx, and tranvertine onyx are all very similar animals. With slight variy hardness and locations, thats all.
If you were to cut parralle with the nodule like formation, it will settle out and not be so rounded.
