These are from Goldbeach Oregon. Can anyone tell me what I should be calling them? (I'm playing with pic sizes...are these too small?)

I can't ID those rocks, just wanted to comment on the pic size. My preference would definitely be for bigger pics. I think your serpentine pic in the other thread is about the minimum size (to my liking), and double that would be about the maximum size. Interesting to hear what others think.

Not sure what they are, but the ideal size for pictures is somewhere around a 600pixel width.

Actually, even 600 pixels gives my monitor a scroll bar on the bottom. My monitor (17 in) is set at 800 x 600 resolution so ideal for me is 500 pixels wide. Your 2nd pic is 320 pixels wide so it could go a bit more, the little one is way small unless it's being used as a thumbnail. Sorry I can't help id them.

Until I read about the gold flash it kind of looked like some Howlite I have. SO I have no clue. The photos could be a bit larger, but I like them big as I can see them better and really have the time to wait for the download. The best thing is to use thumbnails and then we can click to the really BIG photos. Harry

Liz... I was in Gold Beach last week and found simillar material. It looks to me to be quartz in Basalt? There is alot of it between Bandon and Brookings, in certain places. There is some at Bandon's south jetty, Port Orford, near Battle Rock and near Humbug mountain.
