Kinda Hard to tell from the pics- but I'll give it a try Pic 1 and 2 and 3- Look like Peacock ore (unsuitable for tumbling) #4- looks like ROse Quartz- Great to tumble- a bit Fractury at first- but a long course grind usually takes care of the problem areas #5 looks like Glass (maybe??) not sure really what it is #6 looks like #1,2,3 #7 and #8- Not to sure on- I see sparkle- which may be Pyrite- or just reflections off the matrix #9- looks like Amythest? Should be good for tumbling

Oh you know what- It must be the light reflectin in the fractured part- If that stuff is Black and Mahagony clored than it is Mahagony obsidian (Volcanic Glass- good cabbing material- a bit more challanging to tumble as it is softer than quartz, agate, and jasper)

Peacock ore (a trade name for some coppercomplex mineral) is actually copper oxide (tarnish if you will) tumbling it will mearly remove the tarnish (and more likly destroy the specimin) If you have a lot of it- You can try to tumble it and see what happens-

HEHE I wish- My sister has her PhD in geology- and it has been a hobby for me for most of my life- But I really only know stuff that is common- A good Id book (I have Simion and Shusters Rock and Mineral ID book) goes a long way to helping- Plus there are a lot of memebers here who really know there stuff (sabre, freeform, deb aka daniel, snowdog, and others)
