Ok Does anyone know anything about Madagascar Rubies? Are they any good? Are they worth trying to sell in the rough? Most of the ones I have are between 14 and 24 grams or 60 to 120 carats each. I have 28 of them. They have not been heat treated by me and the fella I got them from said he did not heat treat them either. They look like the rubies I have found in N. Carolina just a bit larger. They have the classic hexagon shape and are very red almost purple-ish. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated as I have search the internet and can not seem to find the answers to my questions. Thanks, Tonja

Hey Tonja, Ive heard there allot fo Rubies coming out of Madagascar in the last couple years. I did a qwick serach for them online and found a number for sale. Mainly finished faceted ones. I can say from personal experince selling rough online is not very profitable. The main concern it always comes down to is offering bulk, wholesale and being able to recure the inventory so you can move large amounts. Posting them for sale with out being an importor/mining or offering other similar gemstones for both cabbing and faceting can be done. However they may sit for a while unless you price them to move, and not follow market trend. The faceted gems i found for sale of madagascar rubies were going for cheap, and they were real nice, not top of the line, but nice.
