A friend gave this to me & said it belonged to his Dad. He doesn't know anything about it. The pendant is very dull either from age/wear or it never had a good finish to begin with. Glue is a little yellowed & the cap is the standard glue on that's been used for years. I'm stabbing in the dark...but the closest I can come up with would maybe be Imperial Jasper. ( there seems to be a slight tinge of pink towards the bottom of pendant) Anyone else know what it might be? Thanks...Liz

Just out of curiosity, but is the top lighter cream as hard as the lower pale green? It almost looks like it undercut there a bit...

No...it isn't undercut at all. Very smooth over entire pendant.

Wow Liz, thats a tough one. Those colors can be found in a number of popular materials. Imperial Jasper would sure be a possibility as would Willow creek jasper or caresite jasper. Butterstone is softer but sometimes shows similar color and pattern. Some of the flints and cherts look similar too especially some of the material from the Prairie Agate area of the Dakotas....mel

I'm leaning towards Willow Creek. SOme of the lines just don't look like Butterstone, and pink is rare in Butterjade.

Yep, Daniel is right. I pulled out my butterstone samples and no pinks at all just greens yellows and browns but still kind reminds me of what you have. Is the stone mirror polished like jasper or kind of satin finished like a softer stone? Looks kind of like a satin finish from the pic.

Been thinking about this some and if indeed the satin finish is due to the stone being a softer material, it could be what we call Verde Antique out here. Verde Antique is a sort of serpentized marble ( dolomite+ serpentine). it usually comes in shade of green and yellow with black markings but the deposit near Victorville , Ca has other pastel colors too.. Kona Dolomite from back east also comes in many pastel shades...mel
