I have an unidetified rock that I would like to tumble. I collected it along with many others across the country. It is the largest and was found in a stream bed in Oregon about 30 years ago. It is a dark green/ grey. Any ID would be helpful. Also, would a Thumler tumbler model B work well for this. Also, would I start with the normal 1st step in tumbling since it's already smooth? It's 6 x3 x3 inches. i23.photobucket.com/albums/b383/kimmya/rock.jpg

Howdy skeet, Looks to me like a nice piece of green jasper grading almost into bloodstone, if the little spots are indeed reddish. That size is pretty large for even a 15 pound tumbler as it will pretty much crunch up any filler you put in with it. I know some of the folks tumble some pretty large stuff but I prefer to keep my largest hunks to under 3 inches even in the larger barrels. If it were me I'd break or saw it first to select out the best material for the tumbler and of course then you'd have to go through all the stages then as the pieces would be very angular....mel
