Wow, great job -- killer shine on some beautiful stones. My guess is that you have red granite, but I'm not really familiar with the geology of that area. -Don

Thanks for the compliment and the help. I didn't even think of granite as an option, but that definitely could be.

Hi. Looks a little like Lavic Jasper to me. Here is a link of a slab that I have here. I don't really know tho. Awesome shine. We're new to tumbling.. did you just do a regular 7 day polish on them? Tammy

I was going to guess Jasper also, it looks like the type called Mary Ellen but being as it isn't from the mine by the same name , its just really neat jasper w/hemitite. We find quite a bit of it in the sand plants here in Ia. but the glaciers wore it down to fairly small pieces.

I have found and polished some of that as well. I have never known what it's technical name is but I will go with stefan's reply. I like the material. It has thoughs little kinda fuzzy looking balls of red and hematite. Takes a very good polish.

Thanks everyone for your help! You guys rock (no pun intended). I'm so excited to do my second batch. I'm going back up to where I got these ones again this summer and I can't wait to bring back some good tumbling material. There is something about searching through millions of rocks on a pebble beach and finding your own to polish that is so much fun!
