Hi Everyone! I would like to know what are these type of rocks? I've picked them up on a beach in New Brunswick, Canada. Thanks

The red is Jasper from what I can see and the other looks like quartz with some impurities in it, giving it a little color. Better ask Mel or Shain though.

I'd agree with DD opinions. Might call the second one quartzite instead of quartz, hard to say. If you are planning on tumbling them, they should take a nice polish, and much of the coarse grind work has already been done by the ocean.
Hey, if you are in the Maritimes, there are some good agates to be found in Nova Scotia. Scots Bay is one locality, I forget the others. Haven't ever searched there myself (I'm in Alberta), but I've seen a bit of stuff on the Internet about it. Occasionally, a piece turns up on ebay too, often wrongly identified as being from Newfoundland. -Don

Thanks guys I appreciate! I've picked up the second one: ''quartzite'' on a beach in Dalusi (NB) i'm from Montreal, QC by the way. I'll try to post pictures of my tumbled rocks in a few weeks.
