Hi all, I have looked on the internet and cannot find something that would help me id this rock. Its a dark green in color and the lighter patches look silvery in the sun, heres a couple of clickable thumbnails: Thank you in advance for any help. Raquel

Looks to me like some feldspar relative in the spectrolite/labradorite family.

Interesting rocks - I look forwards to the finished tumble pictures I might guess at some form of serpentinite, the fiberous crystals remind me of cats eye serpentine. Hope this helps in some way. Cheers, Harry.

It looks like larvikite to me, which is a different feldspar than labradorite. In the building stone trade, it's often called Blue Pearl. It's technically a rock like granite composed almost entirely of feldspar, if I remember right, usually comes from Norway. The UT geology department has several conference rooms with all the walls covered in that.

Thank you all, seems that it does match the pics on larvikite the most.

I have heard some call it Norwegian moonstone. I liked the way it sounded so thats what I call it. I think it comes from several places I have seen a more blueish one and a more black one If you find some big reflective flakes they can make some sharp looking cabs. A sphere of the stuff would probably look like a disco ball; very cool
