Here is a wrap in a new shape I am trying. The stone is from Jamie, ID maybe? It has a double bail which was kinda tricky. Wrapped in 22g square gold filled. With chain, to give you an idea of the effect i was going for. thanks for looking.

I think this is one of the most original wraps I've seen. Way out of the box, as some use to say here! And it's also a beauty!

Whoa! That's mighty different. I like it and bet it was a nightmare to wrap. I'd have a bunch of wire laying on the floor if I tried something like that. :-)

I like the different shape. Neat to use something unique.

That's a real neat and non-conventional shape for an opal, love the curly bails too! Have you thought of how a double terminated chain would look instead though? That straight band across the top sort of cuts off the open chevron concept of the stone right there, having a chain stretch across over that would seem to kill any open effect that notch may have had if it were somehow unobscured by the wire band. Now admittedly, I know next to nothing about wrapping so you really don't have to take me too seriously here if i'm off base. Speaking from a purely asthetic POV though, it would make more sense visually to accentuate that open Chevron feature somehow, so it at least appears unobstructed by wire and chain. What I guess i'm trying to say without sounding like an ass is that it looks like a stone with a notch in it that's been wrapped like a stone without a notch in it, if that makes more sense? I don't even know if there is some sneaky way to give the wrap the form and strength it needs to hold the stone properly withought having a band go directly over the notch but if there is then terminating the chain at each bail and leaving the top center portion open is about the only thing I can think of that might "improve" that wrap design's eye appeal (IMHO). Cool wrap Jeremy. Definitely a unique concept and design. Did you cut the 'cab' and then vibe it to polish? Dan

Rob I see what your saying. I will have to give that a try on my next one. Dan Joi came up with the idea to use this shape. And yes it was vibe tumbled.
