Adrian, I noticed your post on Stephs thread about you wanting to build a coffee table to display your tumbled rocks. It's a great idea...and you'll love it. When I was living in Oregon, my neighbor made me a going away gift. He knew I wanted to do something like this, and this is what he came up with. A beautiful table that I could enjoy all my tumbled rocks. I have enjoyed this so much.....and this is the first place my nephews and nieces head towards when they come over. They usually always want a rock, so I open it up and let them pick one out. Although they can't pick the spheres...those were gifts from another friend. Here's a few pics. Before Christmas, there was no wood showing on the bottom. 13 Fish Bowls takes up quite a bit of tumbled stones...so I guess I gotta keep em' rolling through the year. I just thought I'd share that with you Adrian. You'll love a table. Steve

Have you seen those art coffee tables that have small sections of grass growing in them (an odd number in small squares down the center of the table)? I've often thought of doing that with 3 - 5 small squares down the table. They'd have to be more shallow than that great table though!

What a terrific idea!! I learn so much from this site. Got rocks laying everwhere and that would be great to show them and keep me from having to dust!!! Love your rocks!!!

What a totally awesome way to display your tumbled rocks. That was a great gift Steve, does it have actual glass or is it Plexiglas?

Thanks everyone for the kind remarks! I sure love it. Randy...it's just a hobby of his. He was a wonderful neighbor, and I sure miss him. He is very lonely now too...his wife passed away last year. He will always hold a special place in my heart. He also made us a clock while we was there. Cher..the top is glass. I went to a glass shop and it cost around 30 dollars. (i believe) It was alot cheaper than I had thought. I had the storage dilemna as well. Now, after a load gets finished...I just take the top off and dump em' in. It sure makes it easier...and everyone loves it! Steve

GREAT idea! The coffee table and end table in my living room have glass tops. All I'd have to do is add a piece of plywood about 2.5 - 3" below the glass.

Ikea has a table with small divider squares throughout the table that would also be perfect for displaying stones
You table rocks! Are they all glued down (sorry I didnt, read all the posts before replying) I know I suck!
