Today, I came home to find a little white box sitting by my mailbox (the mail woman doesn't carry them up to the house anymore ;D). Eager to see what was inside, I rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a knife and quickly eviscerated that box. I open it up and it is full of goodies from our friend Wolfden! The packaging material wasn't exactly packing peanuts...it WAS a really nice bag of chrysocola from Michaeljohn's mine and a big batch of quartz from one of wolf's trips to North Carolina! Hiding under that and carefully wrapped up in bubble wrap was another super surprise...a piece of Koi Jasper. It's unbelievably gorgeous. The colors are intense and the patterning is really nice. I'm looking forward to getting this puppy on my new saw! Did I also mention that I'm a HUGE fish person? I don't have any Koi yet, but I do have a big tank of the next best thing...goldfish! Thank you SO MUCH to my New Year's St. Nick! I promise LOTS and LOTS of pictures in return.

Hmmm ... are you sure that Chrysocolla is from my mine? Kinda hard to tell for sure from the picture, but that looks more like the Chrysocolla from Desertdweller.

I fired up my new MK saw last night, and that Koi jasper is TOO big to cut. So...I'm thinking to score it as deep as I can with my dremel, then use a rock chisel to break along the score. I think that will allow me to cut off more manageable pieces.

It's a hanging from the top type. That definitely makes it tougher to tackle big pieces. I can do multiple cuts, but I can only cut as deep as I can get clearance for. I just need like a 24" saw is all. Let me know next time you're in the area...you're more than welcome to visit and give the tools a spin.

Very nice pieces. When I take some boxes of rocks to the post office they always comment on what a great deal I am getting on the flat rate box.
