I fired up my new MK saw last night and got to cut for about an hour. Picture jasper from earthdog: An unknown from Michaeljohn...turns out it has a big crack right down the middle, hence the two pieces. BUT, I think the larger sectin is big enough to get a small cab from. A super BORING agate: And my lovely suprise of the night...local granite with quartz. AND...lookee, lookee what arrived on my doorstep today! Wheels for my cabbing machine!

Congrats on your first slabs Titania! And what fine ones they are. Your new wheels look pretty hot too!

Aint slabbing grand? I really enjoy that part of rock work. Are you using the WF in your basement? I've thought about that but was afraid of the mess. I was waiting until spring to do some more slabs.
Nice picture jasper. I love the contrast of the blue red and tan.
I'm hoping to get some diamond wheels for my machine soon.

Titania, Looks like you had some cutting fun. I like the way you see things too...I agree with your outlook on the picture jasper. I think your all set now for some cabbing with those new wheels. And one more thing...there's not such a thing as a boring rock! LOL! I have to tease you about that because I told Tony that when I cut a rock and it's a dud...I throw it away. He couldn't believe it...and told me to at least put it in a 'to tumble' bucket. I guess he's right. Steve

I had SO much fun slabbing! Wish I had more time right now, but that's what I get for tackling so many projects at once. (We're putting hardwood floors in our entire upstairs and my life has been taken over by painting walls almost every night after work.) I used my saw out in the garage. I don't know that I'd try it in the basement. It does make a bit of a mess. I'm really anxious to try these diamond wheels. Jadecarver was out of what I wanted, so I went to ebay instead. If you notice, these aren't solid metal wheels like the jadecarver ones are. They have resin cores making them much lighter. They weren't too expensive, either...about $65/each.

Yeah, my BORING agate will be headed right into the "to tumble" bucket. I bet it'll look better as a tumble. LOL!
