I just got home from a road trip last night, I had to go pick up a saw I bought on ebay. Here is the newest member of my saw family. It is a 18 or 20" Royal Rock Saw (the seller advertised it as a 20, but later emailed me and said it was only an 18, I have not measured anything yet), made by Royal Lapidary of Portland OR. I have one almost like it, but in 16". She needs a little work and some cleaning up, but I think it will be a good one. The seller had a bunch of stuff in storage and he said I could make him an offer, but he must be watching Cash and Treasure because he said my offer was too low! Thanks for looking............Tony

Have saw, will travel? How far did you go to pick this one up?
Funny how people think a lot of their used equipment. I had a chance a few months ago to pick up a big saw and a small trim saw (he was selling three saws). I gave him a decent bid (for 20 year old, not maintained saws) on two of them (separate bids) and he went on and on about how much they were worth 20 years ago. Turns out, none of the saws sold, he put them on ebay...and got less than what I offered him.

Nice score! I got a 14" & 16" from Craigslist that look exactly like the one you were cleaning last week and I'm in the Portland area. Are the innards of the one in your truck the same? If so, I have a Royal Rock Saw. Cash and Treasures is driving prices up, or at least prices people think they can get for equipment and rough. Happy Cutting! Steve

This saw will not be ready to go for a few months probably. It needs to have the automatic feed system overhauled, the clamp system needs some work, it needs a new pulley, it needs to be completely rewired, and it needs some extensive cleaning. My 30" needed alot of work. I got spoiled with the 16", it was an add oil, plug it in and turn it on deal.
Yes Steve, you probably have a Royal if you got it from the Portland area and it looks like the one I posted the cleaning thread about, there are several still around. This one does not have any of the Royal markings on it, but it is a twin sister to my other one, except for size.
Ronda, I went to Las Vegas to pick this one up, I should have went up right away, cause the first time I talked to him on the phone he sounded like he was about to give away all the stuff in his storage shed just to make room. The next time I talked to him it was obvious he had been asking around about how much the stuff was worth, and I ended up not bringing home any loot!
Thanks for all the comments, I will post new pics when she looks better.......................Tony

Tony, Looks like it's gonna be a great saw. I know just from meeting and talking with you...you'll have that saw running in no time and looking much better! Sorry I missed you..but now that you have a grandkid here in Utah...I look forward to rockhunting with you in the future. Steve
